The Oasis
"The Oasis has been a legend circulating around Lochren almost since the beginning of the Lion species. It was founded during the reign of the cruel and brutal Merikh and is the best kept secret that until now, has never been discovered. However, this page is here to unravel the mysteries and stories behind the Oasis to put legends to rest and bring truth to a land lost to time.
The Oasis is a land of Immortals, their lifespan far reaching and surpassing the 1,600 years. As far as they are aware, there is no age limit or cap, allowing any lion who dwells here everlasting life. However, the cost for immortality also haunts those who stay, because even if they were given the opportunity to move beyond the Oasis and explore Lochren the very act of leaving would cause a lion to instantly age and decay within moments. Those who carry the burden of this immortality can be seen with diamond shaped pupils, the marker of one who has surpassed the normal lifespan.
Overall the Oasis is a pride focused on ingenuity and development. Instead of fighting wars, their policies of isolationism allowed them to focus on growing as a pride and learning about all their home had to offer. Unlike the rest of Lochren, the Oasis mastered many different trades and tasks, learning how to bless items, strengthen armors, perfect elemental uses and store memories. The Oasis focuses also on the pursuit of knowledge. Their inability to leave the Oasis causes them all to yearn for more information to fill their hunger. Most of their learning comes from memories from the earliest days of the species, or stories brought back from those lucky enough to leave and return.
In regards to conflict and war, the Oasis is a very neutral party. They decide to remain removed from any sort of fighting which is one of the many reasons why it has remained hidden for so long. Most within the boarders of the Oasis are content with the choice to remain hidden and free from loss. Thus they carry these ideals within their Pride through an almost non-existent crime rate. All of the lions here work together and benefit off of good relations since they are all practically walled in with no means to leave. Tensions can grow high from time to time just due to such close quarters, but overall their society learned cohabitation and the value of teamwork and cooperation. Overall, the Oasis is a very giving and helpful community to those within their world in a bubble."
